Facilities- Outdoor swimming pool, library, Ayurvedic
spa. In-room amenities: air-conditioning, telephone, minibar.
No TVs, except in the recreation centre if you’re desperate
for news. Most of the bathrooms are open-roofed allowing you
to shower alfresco.

Eco- friendlyWonderfully eco-friendly, they even do
excellent environmental tours to show how every scrap of
food is converted into bio-gas, and their tap water is
drinkable thanks to their reverse osmosis system which
leaves it ultra-filtered.
Also- Make sure you take a trip on the sunset cruise
on the hotel’s own restored houseboat or do as the locals do
and take a canoe out onto the backwaters to watch the sun go
down. You can also catch your own fish in the canals around
the hotel.
Food & drink
Hotel- Keralan cuisine at Tharavadu, where
the chef cooks up freshly caught fish in local and
international styles, with red rice, grown organically in
their own paddy fields. There is also an Ayurvedic menu with
restorative, digestive and cooling effects.
Dress code- Laidback and casual works well here:
floaty kaftan and flip-flops.
Last ordersTharavadu restaurant is open daily from 07h–22h.
Hotel barRelax in the Theyyam bar until 23h, with classical
music and the lake as a backdrop.

Children- Children are welcome and there’s a children’s pool
with a lifeguard from 08h–20h. Baby-sitting can be arranged
at RS300 an hour. |
