It is the southernmost island in Lakshwadeep, crescent
shaped & has one of the largest lagoons. The island is also
very interesting because of its unique Maldivian character.
Minicoy
has one of the largest lagoons and is renowned for its
traditional dance - the Lava performed on festive occasions.
Colourful race boats called "Jahadhoni" are a feast to the
eye of any travelist. A 300-foot tall lighthouse built by
the British, in 1885 is a towering landmark. The beaches
have bathing huts with changing rooms and facilities for
