The Auroville Beach lies in the region of Auroville in Pondicherry along the shoreline that borders the Bay of Bengal. The Auroville Beach is one of the most popular Pondicherry beaches and is commonly visited by the local people and the tourists alike.

The beach lies at a distance of twelve kilometers from the center of the main town of Pondicherry lying opposite the road that winds to Auroville. The beach lies by the ECR. The shore of the Auroville Beach in Pondicherry is washed by small waves. The waters of the Bay of Bengal along the Auroville Beach is shallow and offers a great opportunity of swimming to the tourists. The slope

of the beach is gentle that facilitates the swimmers. The novice who are not able to swim may also enjoy a bath in the Bay of Bengal in the Auroville Beach as the beach does not have any sudden breaks that may be harmful for swimmers. The beauty of the beach is enhanced by the shell fragments and the shingles that are deposited by the waves along the beach. The children often collect the shells that vary in the shapes and colors.

Lying at a distance from the main town, the beach is mostly populated in the weekends by the local people. On the other days of the week, the Auroville Beach remains isolated. The shoreline remains undisturbed and is not littered thus making the beauty of the beach more exquisite and spectacular.
